Je ne me lasserai jamais de parcourir le Tamil Nadu, Etat du
sud de l’Inde, où j’ai constamment été accueillie chaleureusement, peut-être
aussi parce que je suis une femme qui voyage seule. Les conditions de vie sont
loin d’y être faciles et le nombre extraordinaire de temples, sanctuaires,
églises, etc. témoigne de l’importance des traditions spirituelles pour ce
peuple. Ces photos sont un témoignage de la vie quotidienne au Tamil Nadu où
les croyances fortes aident à transcender les difficultés du quotidien.
Un très grand merci à mes chauffeurs/interprètes/anges gardiens Vanaradj
(en 2012) et Murali (en 2014 et 2015) qui n’ont pas ménagé leurs efforts pour
me faire découvrir leur pays hors des sentiers battus et ont constamment veillé
à ce que mes séjours se déroulent pour le mieux.
I can never
tire of travelling to the rural state of Tamil Nadu, in the South of India,
where people are friendly and welcoming. Life is certainly not easy down there,
and the extraordinary number of temples, sanctuaries, churches, etc., bear
witness to the importance of spiritual traditions to these hard-working people.
These images are to convey what every day life looks like in this part of the
world, where strong belief helps transcend the hardships.
Special thanks to my drivers/interpretors Vanaradj
(in 2012) and Murali (in 2014 et 2015) who went out of their way to help me
discover their country and constantly made sure that everything went smoothly
and safely for me as a woman travelling alone.
